Sustainability / Social Responsibility
Education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world. - Nelson Mandela -
We believe children deserve a great start, recognizing the vital role of education. The Annual “Ran Daru Thilina Children In Need” initiative was planned and we executed different projects in order to help children in need. Main vision of these macro projects is Small Charity- Big Impact. We are planning to develop and execute more macro projects to increase the impact on child education.
We believe we have a responsibility and commitment to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life in terms of child education at a large. Education is one of the most important routes out of extreme poverty. In the third world, education can enable individuals to lift themselves and their families out of the poverty trap and help them build a stable and secure livelihood
It was recognized by Lanka Leather Fashion, that in some communities in Sri Lanka even the most basic items required for education are lacking. We identified Rathnaloka Vidyalaya Polgahawela and 290 pairs of shoes were distributed among the children, with the aim of helping the children in need.
A group of staff from our production unit identified this school for the differently abled children. The situation of differently abled children in some sectors of our community remains unacceptable to expected social norms. 40 children were supplied with school uniforms and educational toys to help and alleviate some of the hardships that they endure.
To further our initiative of helping education for the underprivileged, we identified three schools in a rural area where we help 380 underprivileged students with educational paraphernalia stationery math boxes etc. in 3 different schools at Medirigiriya, Polonnaruwa.
Sri Lanka is affected annually by Monsoon rains and this year the Monsoon has been very aggressive in some areas of the country. LLF… team, with the help of The National Disaster Management, identified ‘Bulathsinhala’ as being particularly hard hit with many people being left homeless and without basic provisions. Our team partnered with the Divisional Secretary of ‘Bulathsinhala’ and with the help of the Sri Lankan Navy we were able to deliver much needed supplies to the worst affected citizens of the area. This was all made possible through the generosity of all the LLF Team and the volunteers who traveled to the stricken area to distribute the supplies.”
In an effort to give back to the community and reduce our adverse impact on society we are involved in various social initiatives to minimize our waste and provide animal welfare. Our in-house team designs and creates products from leather waste to compliment our clients garments when sold as a free gift to the end consumer. We have also partnered up with Sri Lankan fashion designers in their efforts to create up-cycled leather jewelry and small leather goods helping create jobs and build communities within Sri Lanka.
